So I tried to research and honestly asked so many questions somehow I didn't understand the answer to this.

I'm getting my sleeve, gb removal, hiatal hernia repair and liver biopsy. I'm doing a 10 day liquid diet before. So even if fatty liver disease is present what would be done besides....losing weight (which is common in obese people)? Plus my research said something about if you have a liver disease you should limit Protein (!?!)

I'm sitting here pondering thinking I guess I didn't understand why it's being done.

I'll call tomorrow but any ideas?

I asked my surgeon and he said that while like (90% or some high number like that) an enlarged liver is just fatty liver disease, they take biopsies for further evaluation. Essentially, since FLD can cause fibrosis, cirrhosis, etc. they want to be absolutely sure of what stage they are dealing with for your post-operative care.

Were your liver function tests or LFTs elevated? Did you have an ultrasound of the gallbladder done? These are the usual reasons for a biopsy. If you did have an ultrasound, they may have seen something on ultrasound that they want to check out, by sending a biopsy to pathology. PLEASE call your doctor and ask him to explain it to you, so you can feel at ease with what is going to happen during and after surgery. Good Luck!

Thanks for your answers.

I originally started the process because of gallbladder attacks caused by large gallstones seen with ultrasound.

The only test "problems" were low Vit. D and B12.< /p>

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
