My Dr. has us on 40mg of omeprazole every evening for a month. I have never had any heartburn. Omeprazole is the ingredient in Prilosec.

You can try zegerid - its the same as prilosec but has a bicarbonate in it too. Its what my Dr recommends. I'm not allowed to swallow pills/capsules so I do have to open it up and put in yogurt or SF pudding.

i have taken prescription zegerid for several years due to acid reflux and I am not allowed back on it, unless I open it and put in yogurt or sf pudding. I took it twice a day.

The surgeon put me on pepsid twice a day and it helps and it's a tiny little pill. I can't wait to get back on my zegerid though. I also take chewable Gas-x. Unfortunately the dissolvable gas-x isn't strong enough. I have to take like 3 or 4 of them to get the same as the chewable gas-x.

I used prilosec but after surgery it gave my hives and itching for some reason..so now I take zantac 300mg every morning and 150 mg in the afternoon...the 300mg I have a prescription for (generic version) but when i run out i take two150mg in the morning its the same thing.

I get super bad heartburn. Works great

I don't crush pills I haven't had to since like 2 days after surgery and i take 6 pills a day..im sure you could crush it or cut it up if you think you really need to

I take six pills a day too. It is no problem. I started the day after surgery. What I want to know is if the heart burn is going to stop. I am on my third week of 40 mg per morning of prilosec. It works great I just wonder if I will have to do it forever. What have others experienced?

Does anyone know if we can also take Tums while taking prilosec? Sometimes the prilosec just doesn't cut it.

My surgeon is okay with up to 10 chewable Tums per day. That's in addition to the 20 mg of Pepcid I'm taking twice a day.
