New Orleans in Danger again as is the whole Gulf-Coast region that was hit by Katrina and Rita last year.

I'm thankful to be in IN. I would definitely move. Then again, I wasn't born and raised in that area. I'm sure that would change my feelings. My heart goes out to those people.

To who? The people who had their homes whipped around? Or the ones that are about to have their homes whipped around. It comes with the territory. We all know what natural disasters might befall us, and take the risk living where we do. Personally I am hoping for a HORRIBLE hurricane season, and want to see a storm come through here badly. It might sound like a bad thing. But we desperately need something to drive down the property prices here, and a strong hurricane season will do that. Then we can get into a home for cheaper. LOL

All of them. I understand it comes with the territory. I can't imagine the heartache that comes with losing a home and rebuilding or God forbid, losing a life. It's not for me. I am a big wimp and get fearful just watching those things on TV. Hurricanes would be first on my list of natural disasters I hope to never experience.

I have lived around volcanos, tornadoes, hurricanes, typhoons, flood plains, earthquakes, mudslide areas and wild fire areas. I would gladly take hurricanes and typhoons anyday over the rest. You see them coming, if you aren't stupid you leave before anything over a cat 2 gets to you, you have insurance for your home, no matter how much it costs, and all is well. its a completely preparable disaster. sure it is touch sometimes, but it is a hell of a lot safer than the other natural disasters you find in this country.

My family was in New Orleans, couldnt find them for almost 2 weeks. They pulled up their pity pants and went back home though, rebuilt, doing well some are near Baton Rouge, and all over the coastal area of Texas. It's a way of life you learn to live with it, It's the way it is. You love it or leave it.

Gosh, I can see why you would prefer a hurricane over some of the other things. Although, you do get those nasty tornadoes with the hurricanes. When we bought our home here in IN, a basement was a "must have" b/c of tornadoes. There have been tornadoes in this area. I hope to never experience that either. The people we bought our house from moved to Destin, FL. We had to put off moving in b/c they couldn't get into the Destin area thanks to the hurricane that had gone through.....that was a few yrs back.

The weather is a powerful thing.

Yep - everyone around here is getting nervous. We were visited by Rita last September, so everyone is still rattled.

Gonna keep close eyes on the Weater Channel for the next couple of days.

it is a love it or leave it situation. what is hard is when an entire state does the right thing, but a few stay behind, and don't heed warnings, then want to complain about how bad they have it after the storm. You didn't have to stay, and you shoulda gotten insurance. so tired of that crap.

After the party is over at your house, we can move it on up to my mine. I just looked at the latest projected path and it has it going right over Jacksonville too.

Sigh, guess I might need to think about getting the ole hurricane supply box out and see what needs restocking.

I live 30 minutes from New Orleans.....something we just learn to live with around here. My family already has reservations made at a few campgrounds just in case. If you wait until the last minute you have to drive almost 10 hours to find a hotel or campground. I hate hurricane season but as long as i have my family and my pictures i am good....i dont worry about the rest of my stuff that is all material things and can be replaced. Good Luck to Louisiana and Florida....is about all you can say.
