Really?? I'm having my surgery in St. Louis as well, but was told I needed to wait 6 months with Cigna. Maybe I should call the Dr's office and see what they say! Thanks for this post!

Absolutely! This is great news though!

I have Cigna too. I Just emailed my insurance coordinator through my surgeon. Fingers crossed for everyone who may be waiting :-)

Me too!! Let's hope I hear some great news!

Cigna just turned me down after a 6 month wait - so they may have cut the wait time, but they will still play hardball with their approvals! I (or my surgery scheduler) re-submit yesterday.

Denied because my PCP (who is a WONDERFUL Doctor) when she wrote my referral letter didn't say "I recommend bariatric surgery." She's written about 6 letters for this approval and never had one turned down. Now, it's 8 days until my sleeve date and they are trying to deny it. Thank the gods, my surgeons office has been thru this before with cigna!

That sounds like an easy fix! Let us know how it goes!! My primary is being a pain about writing a recommendation letter. :(

My insurance coordinator said this is true :) my final appt is in a few weeks :) omg!!!

OMG that would be GREAT!!!!!! I have CIGNA and I am in the last month of the 6 month diet. I am definitely going to contact my insurance coordinator tomorrow!!!!!

Hello fellow CIGNA sleevers,

Well I called my Dr.'s office this morning and infact CIGNA did change their policy on the Bariatric Surgery and they are starting the ball to file for approval. YIPEEEE

Where are you guys located, I called Cigna this morning and they said it was still 6months. Maybe its different per region. I'm gonna keep checking cause that would be great.

Im in Texas. Thats weird you got a different answer. I would call your insurance coordinator through your surgeon. They usually have a better contact.
