Questions To Ask

I am going to my information seminar on March 10th and I have a list of general questions that I want to ask. I was wondering if anyone would post some questions they asked or questions that they wished they had asked. I'm just trying to cover as much as I can. Looking forward to starting my jouney. Thanks in advance for the help.

What type of surgery are you thinking of having....band, sleeve, bypass as each has more relavent questions.

I'm having the sleeve IowaAndy. I should have stated that sorry.

I wanted to know if I'd have a drain or catheter. I had neither. He also didn't use a bougie. I'd ask how many leaks they've had and what are the most common complications.

I would ask how many surgeries that the surgeon has performed.

Also what types of complications that are most common for his surgeries.

What medications that you will be taking for the rest of your life.

What the pre op diet is like and how long do they require?

How long you will be off work and this will depend on the type of work that you do.

How often does the surgeon see you post surgery.

You are probably going to have a drain as most people that have the surgery have one. The catheter is not as common depending on the surgeon.

What side gougie he uses and does he use sutures or staples or both.

How many days you will be staying in the hospital.

I know there are more but I am sure that others will reply.

Good luck and hope all goes well.

Thank you both for responding to my question. You both had questions that I had not thought of. If anyone else thinks of anything different, please let me know. The support on this site is just unbelievable. I look forward to visiting her often. What are both of your stories if you don't mind me asking? Thanks again.
