Strange Bruising?

Anybody else finding strange bruises on themselves now? I've never really been an easy bruiser but since getting sleeved I keep finding strange bruises all over me. Right now I have a thumb sized bruise on the inside of my wrist and a golf ball sized bruise to the right of my knee.

I'm not sleeved yet, but if the bruising is atypical for you, and looking at the length of time since your surgery, I'd guess a Vitamin deficiency. C, K, B9 & B12 deficiencies are fairly well known causes of bruising.

A good friend of mine had RNY about 6 years ago, and about 2 months after she started bruising like mad. Sometimes the tiniest touch would leave a bruise, and sometimes she'd bruise in a place where she'd swear she hadn't bumped anything (like the inside of her thigh). Someone told her it looked like leukemia and she freaked out (sigh).

At her 2 mo post-op her surgeon ran labs she had some pretty severe vitamin deficiences. He made her switch to a bariatric vitamin (she had been taking regular Centrum to save money) x 8 per day, and gave her a B12 booster shot. After she upped her Vitamins she did not have anywhere near the amount of bruising.

yes... I think think it's a B12 deficiency for me.. It's been a rough few weeks w/ me going back to work and keeping up w/ my vits...

We all need to get our vitamins in. I know that I forget to take mine sometimes. I'm terrible at taking the B12 even though I know that it will give me more energy. Need to readjust myself. There done! I've readjusted. LOL ;)

Thanks! I had my blood work done 2 weeks ago at the ER and they said everything looked good, and I just did my B12 injection this weekend, but I'll definitely have my Dr check my labs again.

how wierd...I have had some "strange" bruises on the inside of my left leg by my knee too...one really big dark one...

I started taking B12 this week...guess we will see...

Glad you brought it up!!
