8 days Post-Op Clear Liquids

I am 8 days post-op and have been on Clear liquids. How long has your dr. prescribed you to be on clear liquids? I am supposed to be on them for 14 days. I have not been hungry until today.... It is not "head" hunger...I am truly hungry. Does anyone have any ideas on how to make it another week with just clear liquids? I need help!!! Jello, popsickles, and broth are getting old very fast!!!!

I would appreciate any ideas! :)

Are you doing any protein shakes? The protein is what really helps keep you from being hungry. I was only on clear liquids like two days then into Low Fat Full Liquids which include the protein shakes. They are the staple of my survival. My doctor wants me to have 8-12 ounces of just liquid protein which is about 20 grams of protein or so depending on what kind of shake you are doing. I would call and see if you can have a shake. They help a great deal.

I am 6 days out.

Stage 1: Water day 1 post-op

Stage 2: clear liquids until discharge (broth, tea, water, jello)

Stage 3: Protein shakes, cottage cheese, egg whites, Jello, popsicles, pudding until 2 week post-op appointment.

It is tough! Keep going! I am not hungry but am craving carbs!

I was on clear liquids day after surgery then full liquids for the next two weeks. I also agree that protein is what will help with the hunger. My doctor does not care how many calories I am taking in right now so I am having sugar free hot chocolate, carnation instant breakfast - all made with fat free milk - I use organic that has 9 grams of protein per cup. I can have one protein shake this first week then next week I will start with two shakes. I'm also having popsicles, hot tea, water with Crystal Light Pure. I'm not a fan of broth. I'm hoping to start pureed/applesauce consistency food at the 15 day mark.

Thank-you for your help! I am drinking 3 protein drinks a day, then 2 oz. of soup, 2 oz. jello, popsicles, etc. I may call the dr. and see if I can move to full-liquid diet. :)
