  1. Do you know of anyone that has had gastric sleeve surgery and have lost too much weight? To the point of being anorexic? I think I am at the point of losing too much weight but am scared to stop the weight loss. My mind tells me that I am still overweight and I have huge issues with body image. I have lost 103 lbs. Does anyone suffer from this besides just me?

    Help! I'm Freaking Out!

Having surgery is scary, but NOT having surgery is scaryer. Take one day at a time. The first 2 weeks were absolute hell, BUT there is hope at the end of the tunnell. My third week I was able to begin eating some things that resembled food. Once I began eating food it increased my energy level tremendously. One important side note: Make sure you drin, drink, drink or you will be back in the hospital because of dehydration. No fun!! I am now 8 weeks out and can pretty much eat anything that I plan for. Good luck to you.
  3. Great post! I am in my 4th week postop and it has gotten better in the last week. The first 3 weeks were not what I expected at all!! I have chosen to ONLY weigh when I go to the doctor each month. I might cheat and weigh 2-3 times within that month but I don't want my scales to determine if I pass or fail that day. Weight is only a set of numbers. Once you've had this surgery there is no way to gain weight each day. Obviously, we have chosen to permanently change our diet and the amount of what we eat. For many years I let the scales tell me if I failed each day. Never again!!
  4. How many calories are we supposed to consume each meal (or daily)? Has anyone been told? I am 3 weeks out and would love some insight. Thanks, Tammi
  5. I am really glad to see this post as well. I am 3 weeks out and have been extremely fatigued because of the clear liquids. I just couldn't get enough in. I even had to go to the hospital on Saturday because of dehydration. Today I began full-liquids. Today at lunch I made a baked potato and added low-fat sour cream, cheese and made it as soupy as I could. I can't believe how much better I feel just having some carbs. So, if I'm supposed to do low/no carbs and feel less energized...no thank-you! I have lost 18 lbs. in 3 weeks and was almost ready to say that this "sleeve-thing" was not worth it! Now that I have tolerated potato soup, I feel like a new woman!!!
  6. I am 8 days post-op and have been on Clear liquids. How long has your dr. prescribed you to be on clear liquids? I am supposed to be on them for 14 days. I have not been hungry until today.... It is not "head" hunger...I am truly hungry. Does anyone have any ideas on how to make it another week with just clear liquids? I need help!!! Jello, popsickles, and broth are getting old very fast!!!! I would appreciate any ideas! Tammi~
  7. Thank-you for your help! I am drinking 3 protein drinks a day, then 2 oz. of soup, 2 oz. jello, popsicles, etc. I may call the dr. and see if I can move to full-liquid diet.

Week Out. Need ideas for Full Liquids?

Thank-you for these recipes!! How long after surgery were you able to eat this? I am supposed to be on a clear liquid diet for 14 days and I am dying!!
  9. Congratulations!! Enjoy this time!
  10. How long were you on pain meds after surgery? I just had surgery on Monday and my doctor sent home some pain meds, but it didn't help very much. I went to Extra-Strength Tylenol but am still hurting some.
  11. Only 5 days out...my mom comes in to visit me today and says, "Well, obviously you have lost weight!" I think that was her first compliment......EVER!!!
  12. I am 4 days out of surgery and I do have those stomach pains. My dr. gave me a prescription for abdominal cramps. It seems that when I drink an oz. of something that my stomach cramps up with gut-wrenching pain. I've tried the prescription but didn't have much success so I have decreased the amount of each sip. Might I add..it takes FOREVER to get all my liquids and protein in. Don't think I have accomplished either of these post-surgery. Getting there...
  13. That's funny! I am actually 5 days out after surgery and I already REALLY need some smaller pants. YEA! Not cheap, but I went to Dillard's today and bought some cord. leggins and some cute new shoes. Put a tunic with it and ...there's a smaller outfit.
  14. Off to the hospital is 20 minutes! Woohoo! This day seems a little sureal. Didn't know if it would have ever happened. Nervous? I'm not necessarily nervous but I am extremely shaky because of clear diet yesterday. I was supposed to drink clear liquid protein. Normally I can chug anything. But while I was chugging the liquid protein, I was throwing up in the same drink! Needless to say, I did not have protein yesterday. I'm going to have to figure out the protein with the clear liquid diet. Anyone have any recommendations?
  15. Just wondering how long it takes the surgeon to complete the procedure. How long were you able to stay in the hospital?
  16. That's awesome!! I'm so happy for you!! You will do great! I just wish that my doctor office would just call me back to let me know if they are going to do the surgery or not. sigh.
  17. So, I heard from my dr. office yest. and he may decide to NOT sleeve me. How is this possible? Worried about meds because of depression history. What can I do about this?
  18. Thank-you, everyone, for your encouraging words. Meds: 200mg Lamictal, 400mg Seroquel, Ambian CR 12.5mg, Prozac 60mg, Adderrall 20 mg. It's lots of meds but my psychiatrist wrote a letter to my surgeon stating that I would benefit from surgery. I am bi-polar, BUT very stable for 3 years. I'm tired of the run around. I just want to discuss it with my surgeon and not talk to "the office girls." The only other doctor around is my dr's partner. I can't go to Mexico because I have to make sure that insurance pays for after-care. ???
  19. I have started having gallbladder pain in my upper right side. I had a sonogram last week and it found that I do have gallstones, but they weren't big enough to do anything about. Went to the doctor again yesterday and it was very tender to the touch and my dr. could feel them moving. I'm wondering if I'm going to have to have my gallbladder out before WLS. If my insurance company would hurry up then I might be able to have both taken out at the same time. Anyone else have this problem?
  20. I'm jealous! Congratulations!

    Unsupportive mother :(

Kelly, What did you tell people when you had surgery? I do not want anyone to know either. I live in a small community and I don't want anyone to find out.

Sleeved yesterday and just got home

Please excuse my ignorance.....this is all new to me.....How do you pass gas through your sleeve?
  24. Depends on your insurance. Most insurance companies want two co-morbidities for BMI of 35-39. If you have a 40 BMI most insurances do not require 2 comorbidities.
