Preparation for Surgery and Post Surgery

Hello everyone,

My surgery is scheduled for November 1. I'm really excited and looking forward to the new me. I have to work next weekend though so I'm trying this weekend to gather everything I need to take with me to the hospital and for the first few days following surgery. I have seen various posts that say Gas-X strips and sippy cups but I'd be really interested to know if any of you that have had the sleeve surgery have any advise regarding things you wish you'd had or were glad you had or took with you to the hospital. Looking forward to your comments.

Thanks so much!

There's a thread topic on this with a lot of input. I'll bump it to new content for you...

Just take a comfortable pair of pajamas and ditch the gown and a pair of slippers for walking. Some puzzle books or reading material. Some people take their laptop, I just used by IPhone.

The biggest thing I can recommend is to find protein drinks for post surgery. I can not stand the whey protein drinks they make me ill. You have to get the protein in so this can be a big deal. Recommend Pro Joe coffee drinks I dont know how I made it with out them:)

the things we had to buy right after surgery were...

diaper rash med and those wet wipes--believe me--they are a god send!!!!!

i only used my heating pad--didn't need much else!!

My surgery is scheduled for the same day Mimi. So far this thread has been very helpful.

Sugar free fruit-flavored cough drops were a godsend once I was allowed to suck on them - for the dry mouth. I also brought chapstick, my phone & a charger, and comfy clothes to go home in. If you have long hair, bring something to tie your hair up too. I brought books and a laptop but was so out-of-it from anesthesia and meds that I never used them. Good luck to you!
