Well, I have thought about this for years and finally got the nerve to go talk to a surgeon about 2 weeks ago. Wow, how things have flown since then. I am scheduled for a sleeve on 7/26, and I am very excited. I am 33 with 2 young children and want to be able to be active with them. I am apprehensive, too, though because I am their primary provider. That stresses me out. Just as bad is that I work in a very stressful job and have limited timeframe for surgery. I will actually be going back to work on postop day 6..and it's not a desk job! I am praying I am one of the lucky ones, and I am able to do this because I don't really have an option. I am so thankful for the opportunity to become a healthier person and a more active part of my children's lives. I have been lurking on here for a few weeks since my surgeon recommended I consider a sleeve rather than a band (which is what I went in asking for), and I appreciate all the information and honesty on here. The amount I have learned has been amazing and has made me very comfortable with my decision. I can't wait to actually let someone else take a family Christmas picture this year so I can be in one for the first time!

:rolleyes:Hello Mommieto2, I understand your fears regarding your small children, mine are grown and I still have the same fears as you. but like you I feel this will extend my life and the quality of life that I have left. I want to once and for all have this monkey off my back.....do you have family or friends to help out once you get home??? I live alone so I don't have to care for anyone but myself. I plan to go back to work 6 days post op as well. I am active, but do have an office and explained to my assitant and to my boss that I will not be lifting for a few weeks and I am fortunate they are very supportive. Good luck to you......I am the day after you. I will put you on my prayer list. God Bless!

Thank you very much for the support! Yes, thankfully I have help at home. My kiddos are going to stay with grandparents for a few days and my husband is great help! I haven't' told anyone at work. I am in the medical profession and I am not sure what my coworkers would say. Doubt I will be able to hide it too long (or atleast I hope I can't because of the weight loss), but I don't need anyone trying to feed me negative stuff.

Welcome! We are going to have lots and lots of family pictures after Christmas! I can't wait! Good luck! Glad you are here! :)

Last Father's Day I fixed a photobook with all the pics of my husband with our kiddos through the year. He loved it, but I was jealous. I only have about 2 pics of me with my 3 year old, neither of which I would ever share. Not many more with my 6 year old! I cannot wait to give someone else the camera and have pics to enjoy for years of the wonderful things I am getting to enjoy doing with my kiddos!!!!

I went today to the hospital for per op blood work and almost backed out I was so scared. I am also going to school I start back on the 11th and will have to miss class for surgery lol. I hope to be back at school the following week so I don't fall behind. I totally feel your pain. Mabye we can overcome our fears together? :)

We will get over our fears! I am thankful I didn't have a long wait to get the surgery so I can minimize those thoughts that keep popping in my head. I cannot believe it is only 18 days away. I start my diet on the 15th! Glad to have you along for the ride....

Hi there, I'm also having my sleeve on the 26th so i will be thinking of you and praying for you as well. Does your job have what's called Extended illness benefits? I work a weekend shift at a hospital by myself as an ultrasound tech which means pushing beds, my machine etc and was only going to take a week off until I found out about EIB. I'm not sure if your employer offers it but please look into it to see if you qualify for that or FMLA. Worse case scenario you can't but it's worth asking. I hope you have nice co-workers who will be helpful to you and I look forward to keeping up with your success!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
