6 days post-op and feeling hungry

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery on Monday in Dallas with Dr. Kim. I have been doing the Clear liquids and was finally able to get down some Syntrax nectar (which I went and bought a lot of yesterday), and some NSA carnation instant Breakfast. And now today I am feeling hungry. My stomach is actually growling. I have gotten in 64 oz of Fluid today and 50 gr of Protein. I have been taking my gas x and my prilosec. My calorie count has been low though around 400-500.

Is this normal? I feel like it's too soon to feel hungry. I am suppose to be on this phase until Tuesday.

I had a hard surgery day and post op day one.....dry heaves and the pain was the worst I had EVER felt. I stated feeling normal yesterday and now today my stomach is growling and I feel hungary.

Anyone with suggestions? I want to know if anyone else has experienced this?

I REALLY want to be one of those people who say that they never really feel hungry anymore (aside from head hunger).........

I was sleeved on Tuesday June 28, my stomach growls all the time. I congraduate you on the liquids, I haven't been able to sip more than 2 ounces per hour, I'm scared to swallow too much liquids and throw up. My doc put me on Clear Liquids for 5 days so I haven't reached the Protein till tomorrow.

I am on full liquids, surgery was june 23! And I'm hungry! I think its because we are only getting liquids in. And we won't. Start getting full till we start eating soft and solid food. I had my post op yesterdat and my surgeon said its ok to be hungry ( I was hoping he would advance me early to soft foods. But he didn't :( my stomach growls all the time before during and after I take something in. But I am starting to realize that my head is what's telling me I'm hungry, my stomach is just talking!

My surgery date is July 11th with Dr. Kim. Getting nervous and at times I want to back out. I'm not so worried of the pain but starting the drinking and eating process post op. Just don't know if I can handle it. I hate getting sick to my stomach so I know I will be very cautious. Having gone through the surgery, do you have any doubts?

My suggestion to you is to tell the anestheologist that you get sick after anesthesia and he will " break out the big guns" for anesthesia (so I've heard it said).... The anesthesia is what made me so sick.... But they tried so hard to control my nausea..... What got me was the gas pain.... Nothing took that away!!!!!! But I kept on my little bell asking cuz the pain meds were the only thing that would make me forget enough to sleep.... As for the nausea when you start your drinking phases, I've had maybe one bout and that's it.... The first few days was hard to get it all in even though I wanted it so bad cuz I went 2 days without even a mere ice chip in my mouth and was so dry I couldn't stand it .... My lips were sticking to my teeth... It was miserable.... So when they brought me the liquids, I was ready!!!! I couldn't take much in though.... But was heavenly what I could take in..... Just be prepared..... And be prepared to walk... Walk.... Walk.....and sit up in recliner... Etc.... Eventhough you may just want to crawl in bed...... Every one is different so you may have no problems at all..... Just 2-3 days of hell will be well worth the end result.... Just honker down and suffer through and then it will be ok

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
