My Story

Hi I had my surgery on June 10th so I am 8 days post op. I am sitting here trying to figure out what is a good protein shake to buy. I have tried a couple and they are absolutely horrible. I went to GNC today and the shakes are so expensive. Can someone recommend a good affordable protein supplement?

I use Gold Standard 100% Whey...Delicious Strawberry from GNC. I usually spend about $30 for 32 servings but they have a discount card that you can get. It usually saves me money. Also they email coupons to me. If I bring in my cell phone with the email I dont have to even print it out. They also have great deals on line for the protein every once in a while. I have never ordered on line though...The thing about GNC over Vitamin World or others is if you dont like it you can exchange it no questions asked. Even if you tried it a few times. If you have their discount card you do not even have to keep your receipt they look it up by your card. Everyone's tastes are different so try as many as you can until you find one you like. The one I like mixed with skim milk tastes like strawberry Nestle Quick. It is best if it is very cold and I like to make it ahead and let it sit in the fridge...it dissolves better this way. Hope this helps...good luck.

I hated the powders when I tried them and just couldn't get used to them. I use the Atkins low car/low sugar drinks. They have 15 grams per 11 oz drink. In the first two weeks post op I was able to get down 2-3 of these a day. By the third week I was able to get in 4 to equal my 60 grams of protein. Target has them for about 5-6 bucks per 4 pack in many flavors. I personally like the dark chocolate best. Hope this helps.
