Went in for surgery this am..potassium critically low. Still getting iv fluids plus potassium. They will delay a week or two. Ugh..cannot believe it but glad they caught it!!! Potassium is critical for heart rhythm....God is good!

They think ot is low from some meds I have been taking. Frustrated but grateful. Joan

Hi Joan, I'm so sorry to hear this! But you are right, very good they caught it. Hugs to you and I hope you can be rescheduled ASAP!!!

Hang in there! You'll be sleeved soon. right now it's important to make sure your body is ready for this surgery!

Best of luck

Hi Joan,

I just wanted to agree with you God is great! I am glad that it was caught before surgery. I'll be praying for you and I hope to hear that you have gotten a new surgery date soon.

Gina

That sucks, MrsPositive! I have the same problem, tho, and so I know there's an upside: If you are so low on potassium, you are surely having symptoms of potassium deficiency. You will probably feel MUCH better as soon as they get your numbers up! When I was low, I felt tired & achey all the time, dizzy on standing, had a heart rate that would start racing when I did even the lightest exercise, as well as random muscle twitches and cramps. It took forever for the docs to realize that's what was going on, cuz the symptoms start mild and you may not even think they are a sign of anything.

Simple potassium made them all go away. I bet anything you are feeling the side fx of low potassium, even if you don't realize it. So you'll feel better soon and then you will have your surgery! And you will probably recover faster and hurt less with normal potassium levels.

You'll be good as new and ready for surgery very soon. At least it was a quick fix and you'll be on the losers' side in no time!

Thanks guys. I am trying to keep my chin up...they were literally about to wheel me into surgery when they found out how low it was. I understand totally medically why we had to postpone but I'm totally waiting w my breath held til I get a new date for surgery. I am praying a lot and hoping to hear soon. Thanks so much for your encouragement. One foot forward every day is all I can do. Hugs Joan

Yes God is good. I'm glad they found it before the surgery. Take care!
