I cough everytime I eat

I'm 5 months post-op and I have noticed that for the last month or two, I've been coughing everytime I eat. Alot of the time I throw up when I cough. I don't have a cold. It only happens while I'm eating. Is anyone else experiencing this and if so, what is causing it?

Sounds like acid reflux. Are you on a PPI? I always coughed when I ate before I knew I had reflux, but that was before surgery. Not sure what else it could be.

sounds like classic acid reflux. I had it before my op, and it worsened greatly for about 2 months after. my doc rx'd a liquid ulcer medication for 2 weeks. i haven't had it since! i'd give 'em a call. good luck!

Up until I was 10 weeks out, I opened a Omeprazole capsule in a small amount of water. Just recently I missed a day and was very uncomfortable with acid reflux. From what I understand a PPI is needed for quite awhile as to the stomach making a normal amount of acid for a much smaller stomach and helps with the healing. Good luck.
