Anyone have experience with Dr. Nick Nicholson?

Recommended Posts

I have decided to cancel my surgery date in Mexico (Dr. Aceves) and instead stay in the US. While Dr. Aceves has a great reputation and I was comfortable with him as a surgeon I really was never personally comfortable with the idea of going to Mexico. Specifically about the sterilization practices.

Since making the decision to not to go Mexico the uneasy feeling in my stomach has gone away and I feel more confident with my decision to have a VSG.

After doing some research I've decided to go with Dr. Nicholson in Dallas and was hoping to hear from some of his patents.

How are your results?

How did you find him as a surgeon?

Are you happy with your after care?

How was your experience like at Forrest Park Medical Centre?

How many nights did you stay in the hospital?

Given what you know now, would you choose him again to be your surgeon?

Thanks!

Hi, I'm also in Dallas and I had my surgery 11/18/10. I did not use Dr Nicholson, so I can't give you feed back on him but I did use a surgeon in Plano named Dr. Cribbins. I was referred to him by a friend of mine who is also a surgeon. I trust her with all my Dr referrals and she hasn't let me down yet. I was extremely pleased with him and my recovery was incredibly easy, which I in part credit him with. I had my surgery at Baylor Frisco which I initially thought it was a pain to go so far from home I was thrilled with the hospital. It's new, it looks like a hotel, and they treated my husband and I like royalty.

If you'd like to know more, send me a message and I'll answer anything you want to know.

Having surgery 1/31 with him.

In addition to his wall that's filled with awards and accolades, my PCP weaves tales about him like he's a miracle worker. Apparently he's in the top 5 for Texas, and his dad was a surgeon too so you have a couple generations of experience.

Don't think you can go wrong with Nick.

I almost picked dr. Nicholson. He definitely has a good rep. I ultimately went with dr. Davidson. I think around here in Dallas it's a lot about the little things like appointment wait time, aftercare, support on call, etc. A coworker of mine had dr. Kim. He required his patients to buy Protein & Vitamin products from him. Otherwise she has been happy. Good luck

I too am in Dallas and looked at both Dr. Nicholson and Davidson but went with Dr. Jayaseelan at Medical City.

I hear really good things about Forest Park though! It's like staying in a hotel!! and the staff is wonderful!

Good luck!!!!!

Dr. Nicholson is my Doctor. I have my first appointment with him on 1/28 and will get my surgery date then. I have been very pleased with his office staff so far. My insurance will only allow a select few doctors and hospital. I will be going to Baylor in Plano. My brother used Dr. Nick five years ago and has done very well. He highly recommends him. Hope this helps.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
