Protein shake alternative

I've never really liked Protein shakes and I had an even harder time getting them down after surgery. My doctor suggested drinking the sugar free version of Carnation instant Breakfast and adding two tablespoons of powdered milk. All that combined with the cup of milk you mix in, you get about 18 grams of protein. You can up the protein by adding Protein powder instead of the powdered milk and it still tastes better than a Protein shake (just my opinion).

Just thought I'd share because it saved me.

My doctor added a 1/4 to 1/2 cup of egg beaters (you can't taste it mixed in) and that adds 6 to 12 grams of protein. It is not necessary to cook the egg beaters.

I love Carnation Instant Start. Makes me feel like I'm drinking Chocolate Milk!

Sorry my last message screwed up...oops! I'm so glad you posted this. I am definately going to try this recipe. I think protein powder and the shakes are pretty gross too.

If you live where you can get Mootopia millk (HEB in Texas carries it), it's lactose free, fat free, has way less sugar, 12 g of protein, and tastes like milk! I use that with the high protein slim fast and the Carnation instant breakfast to boost the protein. Yum!
