Surgery date and wrong surgery!

My Dr's nurse called yesterday working on getting me a date... but she said the Dr was prepareing for RNY, not sleeve! YIKES! She sounded kind of put out when I said that his assistant Dr had recomended me for the sleeve OR RNY I and chose the sleeve. She will be talking to the main surgeon and will get back to me in 2 days. NERVOUS. She did say my insurance does cover the sleeve...so keep your fingers crossed for me will you all? Thanks.

Wow, good thing you confirmed with her the actual surgery you are supposed to get!

Take a sharpie and write something like "sleeve only" on your belly b4 the surgery

Thats looking like a good idea! Thanks everyone... Ill let you know how it goes.

Good thing you found out before and not after the surgery! I think the idea of writing on your belly is really good, as well as talking to the surgeon about it right before the surgery to make sure s/he's 100% sure about the type of surgery that is to be performed.

I hope you remember you are the customer and get what youwant done.

Hurray! I just got a date for a sleeve. January 18th. Im not sure if this means that insurance has approved it or not... I guess they must be confident....

Not to scare anyone but....I know someone who woke up from surgery only to discover then that she was given the bypass instead of the band. Needless to say... she got a full refund!
