Bowel Movements???

When were you guys able to have a bowel movement after your surgery?? It has been five days since I have had a bowel movement and don't want to get constipated. I took a little milk of magnesia yesterday but didn't want to take to much. What did you guys do about your bowel movements?? Thanks for any info!!

Honestly I drank some of the milky protein supplements they give you in hospital, and they went straight through me so I didn't have this problem!

I think I went at about day 4 after surgery. I know my doctor said if I didnt have a bowl movement within 5-6 days to take a stool softener.

I've been talking Benefiber powder, and that seems to be working fine for me. I wouldn't worry about not going unless you feel gas/constipated immediately post-op--remember you've been on liquids for a while and there might not be anything in there to come out.
