Question on pre-op diet

Hi everyone !

I'm brand new to this site - have been reading and gathering useful info and inspiration which has been very helpful. I am scheduled for surgery on July 26 and I am very excited. I just had a question - I was instructed to adhere to the liquid diet the day before my surgery (and of course after the actual surgery) but I was wondering what determines if a person does a liquid diet prior to surgery for a longer period of time- as in days or weeks. I noticed some posts that talk about pre-op liquid diets.

Thanks for any insight provided!

I just got my date today (September 11!) and I have the same deal as you. I think it just depends on your surgeon. Good luck!!!!

Depends on the dr , my doctor had me on all liquid protein diet for two weeks he determines who long by your bmi

Thanks! And good luck to you as well!

No preop diet for me. My BMI was only 36 so maybe my liver was thin enough? It's a judgment call by your doc.
