Confusion

Hey guys,

I would like to give you an update. I am now down to 207 pounds. 6 weeks from surgery. I have officially beat 3 weight loss goals that they have set for me. One which isn't suppose to be until August 29th. I am very proud of myself but the problem is that I can still eat way too much and have a fill of 6 CC in a 14CC band. I am only eating one small meal a day and I have two Protein shakes and one Protein Bar a day they rest of the time. Please help..

Thanks

Ryley

Congrats on your weight loss. Fills are supposed to be dependent on how well your hunger is controlled- not how much you can eat. The band isn't meant to physically stop you from eating anything.

  • It sounds like you need another fill.

I got my surgery in Mexico and they didn't say anything about Protein shakes but my cousin got her surgery in the US and said that protein shakes are okay? So is it okay to drink protein shakes right now I just got my surgery on 15 July?

Yes maam you suppose to be on liquids for two weeks after surgery....

My surgeon said no more protein shakes when I get on solid foods. He said you don't want to get your calories from liquids because it will slide on through and will not keep you satisfied. It's defeating the purpose of the band. Makes sense.

I've got over 14cc in my 14cc band. When I was just at 14cc I actually thought I had a leak because I could still eat so much. They took out the fluid, checked to make sure the full amount was there, and put it right back. Some of us just have lean stomachs (on the inside at least...Lol) and just need more fluid in the band. Keep getting those fills! I had to get 18 fills to get really good restriction.

Shakes are typically used after surgery and after fills so yes you should be on a liquid diet now (which may include shakes)
