Pre op diet!

Starting my diet tomorrow and I'm pretty scared. I've been exercising for the past 4 weeks, but I haven't really changed my eating habits. Is it torture?

Suzanne Yes I am on a full liquid diet except I can have a half a cup of green veggies or carrots once a day and 1/2 cup of whole oats or cream of wheat once a day 1/2 cup of sugar free flavor free greek yogurt 4 protein shakes 2 with fat free milk and 2 with water and added crystal light flavors

Suzanne yes a full liquid diet only 3 to 4 protein shakes a day with water in between im not looking forward to the weekend but it would be the true test to see how bad I want this

I start my per op diet tomorrow as well but im on low carb high protein i dont go on liquids til the day before.. Im lucky i only have to do it 1 week. let the games begin!

I'm on day 10 of liquid diet. In Australia we can only have 3 shakes with added water only, 1 pce fruit and 1 sml cup green veggies. 800 calories.

I'm doing great with it so far, as surgery is just round the corner (Tuesday 18th) and I'm keen to succeed..... This is my motivation! Can't wait for Tuesday to come.

Good luck to all of us! :)

I'm on day 3 of pre-op diet, surg scheduled June 27. Protein shakes + 1 small meal/day, no meat, fish, chicken, low carb, also. First two days were ok, but felt a bit hungry. Woke up this a.m. Feeling great, I am motivated to stick with it so my body is in great shape for the surgery. Pre-op diet is only two weeks. I can do this!

I'm on my diet. ALL liquid. Nothing chewable. Water and protein drinks. Broth or sugar free jello if you just have to have some thing. It's very trying!

My surgery date is June 27th too. I started the diet a couple of days early because I am ready to get this show on the road! My pre-op diet sounds like yours. The first few days I had a terrible headache, but I am much better now. Still hungry but I am super motivated!

you got a great attitude :)

Today was super tricky for me....I have to do the diet but I don't think I am getting enough protein to keep me from keeping my sugar from getting too low, Today I almost passed out in the store, I checked my numbers in the dressing area really quickly and sure enough I was down to 60 which can get dangerous....... I have only just gotten out of the Hospital For 2 weeks after being newly diagnosed with Diabetes..... Yikes.... These next 7 days need to pass faster I am a nervous wreck!!

im on the 2 week protein diet 4 shakes a day only with all the water I can drink and I am a diabetic to my sugar drops very low in the 70s doing something or just doing nothing so I keep orange juice on me or other kind of juice I was shopping to and it dropped I grabbed something of the shelve and started drinking it to get it back in a range

That's a great idea if it happens to me again, I am still learning about the disease so I can use all the tricks anyone can give its just being on this diet makes me scared to eat a Carb!!!!

You two should contact your doctors about your blood sugar drops. The afternoon is when I get the most hungry and a bit shaky and so I have my fruit (usually an apple) and some V-8 juice mid-afternoon. That helps me. But I do not have diabetes. I would definitely check with my doctor to find out what to do to prevent those drops in blood sugar and how to prevent them if possible. The Premier Protein shakes have 30 grams of protein each--one way to get more protein..

I am definitely struggling with my preop diet. I had a scope today which messed up my schedule and threw me off the whole day. Ugh. I usually don't have this big of an issue with diets.

Joy so I called my Primary Care Manager as well as my Bariatric Surgeon today the Nutritionist ended up calling me back and we went over EVERYTHING I have been eating OR NOT in my case.... Turns Out I have not been doing what I am suppose to be doing I am suppose to average four protein shakes a day I had been drinking Three I did not notice they adjusted mine on another sheet I was going by the standard..... Oops!!
