Pre-Op Diet for June 10th Surgery

Well, I've started my pre-op diet this morning for my surgery on June 10th.

I have to say, I'm so happy to get started with the pre-op diet. Friday my friend visited my and brought over some left over pizza from this great pizza joint. We didn't eat it right then, he just left it so it would go to waste.

Well, the next day I re-heated it. Hungry, I started eating. I starting thinking, do I really want this surgery? I won't be able to chow down on pizza like this. Meaning, eat the usual huge amount of this delicious pizza and other foods. After three giant pieces of the pizza, I knew why I was here in the first place. I ate so much my stomach was entirely too full. You may know that I ate too much feeling; dumb, why did I do that "again"! Now I felt sluggish afterwards, as usual. I know better, but do it anyways. every time. :(

I'm not a grazer, when it's time to eat, "it's time to eat", and I always eat way too much, even when I know not to eat that much. That repeated experience just solidified my decision to change my life with the help of my upcoming banding.

Now that I've started the pre-op diet, I'm super excited to start on this new journey. I'm having a hiatal and umbilical hernia corrected during my band surgery. Can't wait! :)

I'm drinking the premier protein shakes for breakfast and lunch. Green vegetables and 4 oz of chicken (cooked protein) for dinner, and 64 oz of water or no calorie drink per day. Time for a new healthy life.

Day one, so far so good.

Any other upcoming June bandsters?

  • I'm June 10 as well. Your story sounds a lot like mine. I had the same thoughts about eating this past week end, do I really want this? I'm not a grazer either, I have a meat-tooth. This pre-op su

Today was my only day on clear liquids for pre op - then a week following. I was good until now - I'm starving , but I'm going to sleep. I hope - 10 hours until I'm banded! PSYCHE!!!

I'm here at Morristown Medical Center, and ready to take my leap of faith to my new life. I'm feeling good, even being on clear liquids, I'm feeling good. I'm proud of myself for making this decision,

wow good for you big tex!!!!!! that's great!!!!

Well this is day 3 of my preop diet and I have lost 4.8 pounds. I'm drinking 2 protein shakes a day a piece of grilled chicken breast. Hope to keep up the loss for a good jump start to surgery on the 13th.

Jealous of everyone who get to chew while on their diet. I can have 3 protein drinks and water. Oh wait. And ice. BLAH

I'm supposed to be on full liquids- however I became extremely ill so if I can get 1 grilled chicken breast it keep me from getting extremely sick. I have got to be able to function at work

I work at the hospital where I'm having my procedure. I'm going to tell my doc how miserable I am (lol) and see if he liberalizes it. ;)

Headed to my pre-op appt in about two hours. Yea, almost there! :D

Keep it up everyone we will do this... I'm on day 7 and it hasn't been fun! I'm restricted to shakes, sf jello, sf Popsicles, and broth. It's better, but still not easy, the worse part is wanting something to chew on. We are all getting closer!!

I officially hate drug reps! Our office gets lunch catered on Tuesdays and Thursday and breakfast on Wednesdays from reps. This am it was the full Cracker Barrel spread???± if that wasn't bad enough another rep came in and brought 2 boxes of cookies from the bakery. No wonder I have gained 20 pounds in the last year and a half.

Well back from my pre-op appt. Got my prescriptions filled and instructions. It's really going to happen! I have to be on clear liquids 48 hours prior. I'm excited. I asked him what cc band is usually used. He said 10cc is the most common, but men commonly get the 14cc, but it is determined during surgery. Then 6 to 8 weeks for my first fill. Sounds pretty standard to me. Almost there, can't wait for Monday. I think my anxiety is settling down. :)

I'm right there with ya bud. Hope all goes well for us! I'll say a little prayer on Monday for all of us, but I look toward to seeing all of our successes.

Absolutely, good luck to us both Bigtex. It seems all my anxiety is gone. I just want to get on with it, in a good way. I'm guessing you're feeling the same way. :)

My anxiety is coming from the actual being put to sleep:( trying not to think about it too much.

I did it today. Today was my surgery date.

I'm in a lot of pain w nausea and I was dry heaving earlier. So I am staying overnight. Walking feels good but it makes me lightheaded and nauseated but I'm starting to feel better.

Would I do it again? Ask me in a week.

But I am glad it's over and I'm starting the next best journey of my life

I'll wait to ask you in a few months. You have a lot of stages and learning curve to go through. This is your journey. Embrace each part of it. You'll do great!
