Pre-Op Diet for June 10th Surgery

Well, I've started my pre-op diet this morning for my surgery on June 10th.

I have to say, I'm so happy to get started with the pre-op diet. Friday my friend visited my and brought over some left over pizza from this great pizza joint. We didn't eat it right then, he just left it so it would go to waste.

Well, the next day I re-heated it. Hungry, I started eating. I starting thinking, do I really want this surgery? I won't be able to chow down on pizza like this. Meaning, eat the usual huge amount of this delicious pizza and other foods. After three giant pieces of the pizza, I knew why I was here in the first place. I ate so much my stomach was entirely too full. You may know that I ate too much feeling; dumb, why did I do that "again"! Now I felt sluggish afterwards, as usual. I know better, but do it anyways. every time. :(

I'm not a grazer, when it's time to eat, "it's time to eat", and I always eat way too much, even when I know not to eat that much. That repeated experience just solidified my decision to change my life with the help of my upcoming banding.

Now that I've started the pre-op diet, I'm super excited to start on this new journey. I'm having a hiatal and umbilical hernia corrected during my band surgery. Can't wait! :)

I'm drinking the premier protein shakes for breakfast and lunch. Green vegetables and 4 oz of chicken (cooked protein) for dinner, and 64 oz of water or no calorie drink per day. Time for a new healthy life.

Day one, so far so good.

Any other upcoming June bandsters?

  • I'm June 10 as well. Your story sounds a lot like mine. I had the same thoughts about eating this past week end, do I really want this? I'm not a grazer either, I have a meat-tooth. This pre-op su

Today was my only day on clear liquids for pre op - then a week following. I was good until now - I'm starving , but I'm going to sleep. I hope - 10 hours until I'm banded! PSYCHE!!!

This is only day one so I am doing my best. Hopefully once I'm off work it will get a tad better.

By day 4 you'll feel better! Hang in there!

Well I had a protein shake for breakfast- one for lunch- 2 pieces of sugar free gum but by the time I got home from work I felt extremely sick. So I did have half a piece of grilled chicken breast and 1/2 cup of steamed broccoli. I'm trying not to beat myself up too bad. This is a Huge improvement to what I previously would have done!!! I also got some water in but not nearly enough. Hoping tomorrow will be better:)

Minimi is right. The first week is tough. Feeling weak and just off in general. I'm just starting week two and things are much better. A bit more hungry, but feeling much better, normal I guess. I suppose it takes time for the body to adjust.

Part of my pre-op diet is sugar free jello. It's been a lifesaver for me! End of day 8 of pre-op diet. Making meals for kids and family is the hardest thing for me.

Good luck Justaprettyface!! You will do great!! Keep us posted as to how your doing!!

Follow your dr ordered pre-op diet. Everyone has a different diet. Could you bring something from home that follows your specific diet?

The biggest part of success is being prepared. As soon as you are not ahead of the game you will be faced with food choices that will not be the best for success. This is true during preop as much as it is through the whole journey.

My surgery is this Thursday.

I was not required by my Dr. to do a pre-op surgery but I did/doing one anyways...smh

Im nervous and HUNGRY..lol but I think I am hungry because I am use to eating entirely more than what I am eating at this moment. I know my stomach says its full, but my brain is not quite catching it.

I have been drinking a lot of water too!!

Good Luck everyone!

Weekend was hard but I made it. I've done pretty well and it is starting to get better. My pre-op diet is 3 protein shakes, a can of soup, and a Greek yogurt. I lost about 18 lbs week one. There have been a couple if days when I was working in the yard that I had to eat a little beef jerky. I have also had a baby bel cheese once or twice. I've been pretty disciplined though. I am hungry when I get home from work, but feeling my clothes fit a little better keeps me motivated. Come in June 10th! Good luck everyone...we can do this! It's comforting to me to know others are going through the same thing.
