Pre op steps to take, do I need a referral?

Hello everyone, I just passed the seminar exam, and now I can make my appoinment with the surgeon, but no one can tell me if I need a referral or not. How can I find out if I need a referral from my primary doctor?

Thank you.

I think you can call your insurance and they can tell you. Good luck

When I went to my seminar they gave me a list of questions to ask when I called to check my Insurance benefits and that was one of the questions. I had to use a diagnosis code for all my questions. I hope this helps. Good Luck

Thank you for replying but I did my seminar online. So no live person for me to ask  and I called the doctors office and they couldn't tell me. I will try calling my insurance maybe they will tell me.

I am pretty sure you need a referall for insurance. You do not need one for self pay. Good Luck. Follow my Lap Band blog www.biscuitsandexcuses.blogspot.com
