Well I had my first "slime" episode this afternoon and I now understand what people meant when they said it wasn't like vomiting.

The upside was that the novelty of the sensation helped me forget about the stuck feeling immediately beforehand. I can say that stuck episode was the most unpleasant experience I can recall in recent years nearly bringing me to tears.

The frustrating thing is I can't clearly figure out what caused it. The material that came up with the slime was indistinguishable and I hadn't been trying anything I hadn't tried before. I can only assume the broccoli wasn't as done as I thought.

Unfortunately, sometimes the band is more finicky than others. You can prepare and eat a certain food the exact same way 100 times and on the 101st time your band decides it's not going to work today.

I haven't slimed in a long time but I'll never forget how it feels. Totally gross lol.

Hang in there, you're doing great :)

I had problems this morning too. Watermelon got stuck. Go figger. I guess I missed one little hunk of melon that slid behind my tongue and made it's escape just to clog me up

Well, now ya know. No fun is it? It's awful if you're at someone's house and it happens? Or, out for dinner. Makes you pay closer attention though.

Well, then you better learn to eat very small and chew very big if you don't want to get stuck. But, the reality is, you probably will get stuck at some time if your band is adjusted properly. There are some lucky ones who managed to lose a lot of weight with no or few fills so they don't have the restriction that some of us have. I'd like to think these patients have a very sensitive vagus nerve that doesn't need a lot of stimulation to give them the satiety feeling that seems so fleeting for many of us.

For me, it's no big deal. It's uncomfortable and inconvenient, but it's also a sign your band may be near or at the ideal fill level.

You shouldn't be scared but you should be prepared. As miserable as it feels getting stuck you do survive and...

A) you learn to be more careful next time

And

B) you know your done eating at that meal.

It sounds so unpleasant and scary. I'm 22 days post op and I have a good heart not to get any fills so long as I continue to loose weight. :(

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
