Eating on the go...

Is there someone who could speak to eating on the go or eating out? I am often traveling therefore it is sometimes difficult to take my lunch. I know that I can rely on protein shakes but I'd like some additional options. How do you measure or weigh your meals to make sure you aren't over eating when you can't be exact on the portions?

Myfitnesspal app has helped me. It has lots of restaurant meals. Sometimes it's frustrating as the size is just "one portion" no true measured amount. But since I measure all my foods at home I'm getting much better at knowing sizes. Also I found some pics on Pinterest which were about serving sizes so that has helped too.

Hope these ideas might work for you too.

I order from the kids menu a lot or I show my lap band card and ask for 1/2 portions.

I travel a lot...both on business trips for clinics at different hospitals/facilities throughout the state.....I do not measure or weight my food....I have learned to "Listen to my band" and follow it's prompts as to when to stop eating...portion control.....

Plus, if I am very busy, I forget to eat most days....not ever getting that traditional craving - hunger feeling.....

To me, it's all about the band....If something is not working, I will question it.....

Measuring at home regularly will help you better be able to visually section out a cup of food while eating out.

Some other visuals that may help you- picture a deck of playing cards. Or the palm of your hand. Both those are good portion amounts to use too when you can't measure.

You can normally find healthier options when eating out. May cost you more but such is life. Most fast food places have grilled chicken sandwiches or salads. Just avoid Mayo and high fat dressings.
