How much protein post-op?

I'm starting to think about life after surgery....6 days from now. How much protein am I supposed to try to get in every day? I know it will take different forms as I progress through the food chain again but where do I start?

I'm 5'8" 230 lbs, 5th day postoperative. I was told 70 grams day protein but at least 40.

I found a website that explains this. Weight x .37 = grams of protein to eat per day. I'll see how that compares with the info I get from the nutritionist.

miss is correct, each dr and nutritionist will advise you. they recommended for me 70+ per day...so i aim for 70 and if i go over, even better....i do notice my hair and my nails are quick to grow and (hair is thicker)....and i found protein is my fuel.....if i am hungry, i eat some protein and i am off and rolling til next time....protein, its a good thing..

Do whatever your surgeon and nutritionist tell you. Every practice is different. It is also important to ask how much liquid you should get in addition to the liquids from protein.
