Banded 12/17/12. The past few weeks I've been having unexplained discomfort/tingling/pain on left side. I have docs appointment on Tuesday to adress this, but was wondering if anyone else felt this?

Where is your port located? And have you been exercising?

Then it's the port. Mine is towards the right, next to my belly bottom. Lots of pain there. Apply I've, it helps me.

I just went to the doctor last week and mentioned I have had this reoccurring dull pain on my right side and I had also started walking 2-4 miles a day at the same time and come to find out (my port is on the right), she said it's very common to have soreness in your port area from exercise. This might be something to consider when speaking to your doc. She said that sometimes it goes away for people as you get stronger, but it may always be there too. I make an effort to hold in my stomach while walking so it makes sense to me. I do not put anything on it, I just deal with the pain as it's pretty dull and not really painful, but I was more concerned my gallbladder was going to give me problems since I've been losing really well and as you have probably read on here, a lot of people end up having this removed.

:( that's bad...I can't live my life being sore everyday! I love to exercise....it better go away or this isn't going to work out! I appreciate the information though! Why do people have their gallbladder removed?! I really can't handle another surgery...sheesh...I do have some vicodin on hand. Kinda sad about this. I've lost 73 pounds, but I don't like the idea of being doped up to deal with this pain! That is not the quality of life I had in mind when I got banded...:(

If need to take something for the pain, you may something else going on, so It's good you are going to the doc soon. Gallbladders are removed because when losing large amounts of weight quickly, people are more susceptible to getting gallstones, and if you have regular attacks, they usually end up removing it. Not everyone has to have it removed, but there is family history in my situation, so I was more aware of this being a possibility for myself, I don't want to scare you or anything and hey they found it wasn't my gallbladder after all :). I hope that all turns out well for you and it ends up being nothing, but you are taking the right steps and seeing your doc.

Thank you so much for the feedback....guess I'll have to see what doc says...what do gallstones feel like? I started at 311..then was 288 day of surgery 12/17/12.... now Im 238...is that alot of weight? I don't even know anymore! Lol

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
