Diuretics

Has anyone been told by their doc that they had to stop taking diuretics? I take them for my BP. I am hoping i dont need as many meds once i lose weight, but for now i would like to continue taking them.

It depends what you are taking and how much. Can you please give us more info? Also you should talk to the doctor who prescribed your meds before stopping. I take lasix but since losing weight I usually only take on tom.

Hi hely, i take chlorthaladone. It helps your body to not absord sodium, and being on the first two weeks pst op and drinking soup, i feel the effects of the sodium in them even though they are low sodium soups. I have a headache all day, thats what salt does to me. Anyway my MD said ok to stop, monitor my BP for a while and let him knw how i feel.

My advice to you is to stop if your doctors say it is ok but try to drink at least 64ounces of water a day. The water will help flush some of the sodium out. Also if you eat or drink anything with caffein consider cutting that out as well. My blood pressure has been lower since doing all this. Best of luck to you!
