Thank you all so much!!! The surgery went awesome!!! I also had a severe hiatal hernia fixed.. I feel amazing! It feels good to walk (works out that sharp gas pain! ).They just had me eat some jello and broth and went down great! I am having the worst time trying to pee...I have to go but it takes so long for it to stay coming... has anyone had this issue?

I'm back home from surgery and feel amazing! I was blessed with an awesome surgeon who I feel very confident with. I had a major hiatal hernia repair with the band; more than 1/3 if my stomach was herniated. I had prepared for some intense pain but it has yet to come. I had some discomfort from gas and a bit of pain from the incisions, but completely manageable. I've been walking A LOT and it feels so much better to get up moving than it does to stay in bed. I am so happy I made this decision. The surgery was so much easier than I had expected. I was also really concerned about what my scares would look like. Even just two days later they are so much smaller than I had expected. My surgeon used internal stitches and external glue as to minimize the scarring. If I could do it all over again than I would! Thank you all for your support... I will keep you posted!

Yay!!! So glad everything is going well!!!

Cozy- so happy to hear you are okay and all went well. How are you feeling now? I got banded the day before you and I am one hungry patient right now.

Karina,

Thank you! I am feeling great now and I'm having the opposite issue. I have no problem getting foods down but I have no appetite. Because I'm in recovery my surgeon said that I have to eat at least the minimum on my post op diet. I get full so fast! Obviously we all know the Band doesn't take away our appetite, it just restricts the food. Some of the reason I may be reacting a little different from you is because I had a major hiatal hernia fixed while he was placing the Band. In order for the opening of my esophagus to stay closed to prevent further hernias, my surgeon chose to set the Band a little different than he usually would. He said I may get some better restriction. I really really am! But don't get frustrated with your hunger.... I'm sure it will subside soon!

Besides the hunger, how are YOU feeling? Any pain or do you feel pretty good?

-Cozy :)

Cozy:

The hunger pains are very much there which causes some major air pockets and sounds I have NEVER heard from my system. My incisions are healing nicely. When I stand up, gravity is not my friend with the major incision but it is better everyday. Today I didn't take any pain meds but I will take on to have a good night's sleep. I am glad I took off work for 2 weeks so I can adjust to all of this and read all these good posts to stay movivated. Right now my scale is trying to be my friend as it showed today I am down 8 lbs. I know it is probably "water" weight or whatever, but I will take it for now as another rumble from my stomach comes from deep within.

Hi, I had surgery on 3/06 and the day I was in the hospital I had some difficulty going to the bathroom, but after a while I had no problems. Lots of ice chips helped. It does get better, but keep sipping.
