Advise After Revision!!

Recommended Posts

I just had my second surgery on Wed. 2/20 and came home on Fri. 2/22. I am very very sore. Dr. gave me pain meds but they are not helping. My band slipped and so they took out the old one and put in a new one. I am having alot of pain on my left side! My doctor says that I have to have liqueds untill my follow up visit on Tuesday. How long do I have to stay on liqueds after a revision? Do I have to start the steps over again? Sometimes I feel hungry like I want to eat solids but then I get afraid of upseting my stomach. I am not sure how soon i get a fill. But i beleive my band slipped because I was too tight and that's why i was so sick all the time not holding any food or liqueds down. Does anyone have any advise on having a revision and where do i go from here?

I'm sure your doc gave you post op instructions? The nurses in the hospital usually give you written orders?

If you have a new band, you're starting from scratch and I would think you're on Clear liquids for however long your doc prescribes and then pureed and onto soft foods maybe 3 weeks down the road.

The new band has to settle in, swelling from the sutures and then the sutures must heal so I would follow the same routine as when you were originally banded.

my band was repositioned on Friday. Discharge instructions say 72 hours liquids then resume normal diet. When band was unfilled week and a half before surgery for slippage, doctor told me to eat a regular diet. I have to admit, I am not hungry at all and thus am having trouble getting 3 Protein Shakes in.Not sure I will be ready for a regular diet on Monday. I think I will take it slower and listen to my body.

I had revision 2weeks post op now. My doctor had me start at the beginning with Clear Liquids, then puréed, mushies, then back to soft solids. I also thought this surgery was more painful than the first but I was thinking I was only 8wks post op the first time them had to have major surgery again. So my poor body has had a few rough months so def take your pain meds when needed. I noticed also it seems like I'm healing at a slower pace then the first time. Hope you start feeling better soon.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
