    Papaya enzyme

I need help. I got a small .25cc fill last Tuesday and I'm not sure if I'm too tight now or if something is stuck. I called my doctor and they wanted me to try and wait to see if it's something stuck if it will pass. I went and got papaya enzymes to try but I'm not sure how long it suppose to take to start working or how many to take? Any help would be appreciated.

Meat tenderizer was my next option. However the papaya enzyme tablets work for me. ???? so I'm back on liquids today and start mushies tomorrow. Thanks for advice. I can always count on great suggestions from you guys.

    Papaya enzyme

I have tightness feeling and even struggle to get my protein shake, Greek yogurt and water down. It has been uncomfortable to me. I took my tablet about an hour ago and it seems to have made it more comfortable for me now. I have been sipping on water and ice. Thanks you guys

    Selfies!

I catch myself doing it now lol! I tell people it's how I measure progress. We have worked hard and it's an incredible journey so we have to Celebrate even with what use to call the "shameless selfie" lol!
  5. I did my research for over a year and when I had my consult with the surgeon he actually wanted me to have bypass. I wanted lapband because I'm a single mom of a young child and I couldn't be out of commission as long as bypass would hv needed for me to heal. My surgeon told I would also be unsuccessful because he has seen it before and backed it with stats that people my size were 90% likely to fail with the band. I was so upset but ultimately it was decision and he did what I had asked for. When I saw him post up I kept telling him I would prove him wrong. Finally at my 1yr post op I had lost 84lbs and he said "well you proved me wrong" and we both had a laugh. He said I was doing better than some of his 1yr post op bypass patients and to keep doing it. I work in healthcare and have seen so many patients who have had bypass have some serious issues due to the fact they didn't follow the plan after surgery. It's not a quick fix and the band is a great tool.
  6. I find myself struggling to see the changes that everyone else sees lately. Well, my mind is finally catching up with my body! I get it and see it now! I was banded 12/3/12 and I'm 7months post-op and have lost over 70lbs! I feel better mentally and physically. I have been hitting the gym at 4am, 4-5x's week and it is paying off. My before pic is 7/5/12 in the blue shirt is before surgery and my after pic in the pink dress is 7/5/13, exactly one year apart. I had no clue till I posted the new pic on FB and everyone was commenting on it so I looked up pics from last summer and I was like "now I see it". All i can say is What a difference a year can make"! Also my beautiful Bambino in the pics is my main motivation to get healthy and active for her. <3 Also thanks to everyone on LBT for sharing their stories, struggles and victories. This site has kept me going and staying focused on the long term goals!
  7. Thanks everyone for all the kind and encouraging words! This was the best decision I ever made and I am determined to reach my GOALS!

    Gaining

So I went for my 6mnth post op 2weeks ago and was happy losing 67lbs so far. They gv me a fill and everything went well. I haven't changed much from what I have been doing since its working except I added another day of working out. The problem is now I hv gained 2lbs! That makes me nervous since I have battle weight all my life. Anybody else have this happen after a fill or working out?
  13. I have been struggling with noticing the changes that come from weight loss. I have now lost 67lbs and still had trouble seeing it. Till now, I was looking at old vacation photos and saw how large my face was only 10mnths ago. I have only been banded for 6 months but this was an eye opener for me. [/img]
  14. Hang in there. There are def alot of obstacles to pass before surgery but worth it when its all done. I joined LBT 6months before my surgery and found a wealth of info on here. I mostly looked at pre-op forum so I knew what to expect coming home and was well prepared. Everything my body went through I knew in advance that is was normal after surgery. Special tip! Visit this site daily for inspiration and motivation! Everyone here is great and helpful even if you dont join in on a topice just read and take it all in.
  15. My doctor explained to me that plication is where they take and fold your stomach up around the band to help keep it in place. It helps the reduce of slips. He does it as a standard procedure with the band automatically. He says that the band manufacturers recommend it for better results. I am 6months post op and have lost 67lbs so I think it must be working. I know CarolinaGirl has plication as well. Best of luck at your appointment

    Dating and the band

I was banded 12/3/12 and took time to really focus on myself and losing weight. I have lost 60lbs and feel great. I was asked out on a date and really looking forward going this evening. However, when is a good time to bring up my band? I know there may be questions at dinner when I don't eat much but don't know if talking about is too much for a first date. I am very open about my surgery to friends and co workers but don't know how my date would feel about it. Any suggestions?

Thanks everyone. I decided not to talk about it and we decided to do a movie instead. Had a great time.

    Airplane Travel

I just came back from Florida and I noticed when we flew it was a little pressure. Not painful at all but something was different. I had a dr appt yesterday and they said they have heard similar stories but not everyone feels that way. Have a safe trip and enjoy!
  19. I was banded 12/3/13 and had revision 2/8/13 due to kink in tubing. I am happy to say I'm 58lbs down. I am having trouble seeing the changes just yet but I can feel the changes. My knee hasnt hurt in awhile, I have more energy, and NSV was when we went to Disney 2 weeks ago and kept up with my 5yr old daughter without even breaking a sweat. This is the first time I have attached before/after pics and I am nervous about doing that lol.

    58lbs down

Thanks everyone, I have been having issues seeing the changes in myself so you kind words make me feel better.
  21. Congrats on your weight loss! My surgeon never gave direct instructions on anything in particular. However I did take it upon myself to take it easy and allow myself time to heal. That's exactly what i did even when I felt better I didnt lift my daughter, no core exercises, and no lifting over 10lbs. I was super paranoid with my port and my surgeon said less than 2% have this complication. What are the odds again right? LOL! I am still a little leery on exercises that pertain to my core area but slowly starting to do just a little at a time. My kink came from scar tissue not forming quick enough to keep up with the drastic weight loss in the beginning so it shifted my port just enough to kink the tubing.Take time to heal and you will be good as new. I was upset with the 2nd surgery and started to doubt my decision but now I realize it was a bump in the road and I am back on track. Keep up all the good work!
  22. I was banded 12/3 and 7wks post op they realized I had a kink in my tubing. I had revision surgery 2/8. I did notice my incision this time around took longer to heal and I thought it was a Lil more painful. I looked at it as my body just had 2 major surgeries so it was expected. I was super paranoid after my second surgery and still am very cautious with certain exercises. I am 5mnths post op from first surgery and 58lbs down. All good now and I wish you the best of luck.

    body dysmorphia?

I was banded 12/3/12 and I am down 58lbs. My problem is I have noticed that I have become my own worse critic. People keep asking me if I can see the difference and all I can say I FEEL the difference. I honestly dont see a difference and people look at me like I am crazy. I honestly am not fishing for compliments from friends and co-workers. I made a goal to buy a new outfit at 50lbs but when I did go shopping I kept pointing out my arms or legs and finally got discouraged so I chose not to buy anything. Has anyone else gone through this? I should be proud of my accomplishments so far but all I do is look at my problem areas. I joke with a few friends that I must have developed body dysmorphia since I am not seeing what they are seeing. Maybe I am just being too hard on myself. I even read an article that maybe my mind hasnt caught up with physical changes yet. Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else?
