Today was the day

I was banded this morning and was pleasantly surprised that I have had any gas pain, just some soreness & discomfort around the port incision. I have been able to drink fluid w/o any nausea but I have not been able to urinate once. When they discharged me they said if I still had not gone after 12 hrs to give them a call. It was already such a long day, I'll follow their instructions but I really don't want to drive back to have a catheter inserted, I don't have temp or any other abnormal reactions,,,,,,any thiughts?

That should read have not regarding the gas pain

Well if you cant urinate then you need to go back. Sometimes after surgery you can not urinate for many reasons and I know because I work on a med surg floor. If you do not pee within 6 hours of being released you need to go back to the hospital and let them cath you. They should have never let you leave without peeing first. Sometimes pain medication makes you retain urine. Especially lortab. Don't play around if you havent peed it is important.

Ditto to the above. Hope you can have a good pee shortly so you don't have to go back!! :)

I left a message with the answering service for my surgeon & before she called back I was able to go twice :),

Yay, glad to hear that happy ending! Enjoy your newly banded life .. it only gets better!

Even though I did not experience any gas pain, this pain where the port is located is no joke! I know its only been two days but I swear it seems to be getting worse. I don't think it is anything abnormal...... but, d#*!
