small bits

The other day while doing a little bit of research I found a paper written on the lap band and there were many comments on the bottom and one lady said that at the beginning stages of her lapband she ate with a baby fork and spoon until she retrained her self to eat small bits! Has any one done this? And does it work if so?

I read about using chopsticks, and as soon as I hit the solid food phase I am going to try that. I will definitely feel more manly whipping out a pair of chopsticks than a baby fork at my desk at work

  • My surgeon request that is what we do. As a matter of fact every time i go in he says it. You can only pick up so much food with that little fork. It forces you to take small bites. Chew chew chew

  • I did the same thing and I also used a small plate.... I still use a small plate but like Mis know my bite size so do not need to go with the small utencils. I think its crutial for the first few mo

My surgeon and nutritionist recommended the baby spoon and oyster fork. My nutritionist takes all newly banded people out for dinner , usually a group of 12 at a time, everyone sits around this huge table and we are served a five course meal showing us how to cook foods to make them interesting, how to incorporate a variety of foods into your new lifestyle and most importantly how small a piece of food should be before it goes into your mouth. Every dish was high in protein only one had carbs which was a ricotta and spinach stuffed ravioli. AND we all ate with oyster forks.

Bayou, lmao "hot mess" .. that could describe me in any coordination-required class ;)

And I love the idea of small spoons and forks! It was never mentioned to me, but this second time around I'm going to do it. I've been unrestricted so long I'm basically starting over.
