Having Trouble After Fill...

is this just what restriction's like? I can eat 1/2 bowl of cheesie grits, but feel pain after drinking a protein shake too quickly. I'm fine drinking coffee or soup, but can't eat a bite of pretzel. I think I really needed this fill, I've been really overeating lately, but this is HARD. I feel like everything I eat that's not hot and soft is wrong. Just had the fill on Friday, this will get better, right?

  • You shouldn't be eating that soon after getting a fill. Did your doctor tell you to do liquids for a couple days and then mushies? Your stomach has to adjust to the fill and it usually causes swelling

And I found out that I've lost 4lbs in 3 days.

Glad you are going to call. You should NEVER go without being able to drink or even eat a couple days after a fill. It's about getting to a full feeling after eating, not restriction while eating. You have to find that fine line. For me it happened immediately. Yes, I could eat more, but would then feel FULL and miserable.

Well, I am feeling a little jealous! I just got my first fill today, and I can't feel any difference. I'm supposed to be on clears for 24 hours, but I can just tell I can eat just fine. I ate some frozen soft serve yogurt, and a few other things without a problem. I can drink anything hot or cold, just like before. I have a 4 cc band, and he said he put 2 cc's in, which should have given me good restriction. I'm going to be so bummed if I have to turnaound and go back right away, especially if I have to pay him $165. Boo hoo.

Remember, you should be able to drink anything! And, you shouldn't even feel your band inside you! It is about making large bites hard to go through, not the small bites you are supposed to be eating. Any liquid, soft serve ice cream or yogurt should go through and are actually excess calories because they have no value. Unless you add something chunky to yogurt, it IS a slider! You need to be focused on how you get to wher the substantial protein goes down and stays there for a couple hours.

Just got a fill to a full 6cc . Feeling a tad bit nauseated but I can get liquid down. I know the next three days of full liquids is what my surgeon advises (me too) but I really need to get creative...so far Isopure 40 grams protein beverage, egg drop soup strained, beef broth, two bites of sugar free jello, a few sips of GNC lean shake. Oh yes and a Zofran for nausea...don't feel line throwing up but just a little queasy. This may be the make it or break it adjustment and I'm just not sure. Ill know in three days depending on how I feel on some mushies and regular food next week.

I meant to add... Hang in there but make sure you can drink. I don't like this feeling the first few days either. We will get through this...eye on the prize right?

Most people don't feel any difference withy heir first fill. For many it takes several fills. Don't be discouraged its part of this process.

Whitedobe, don't be discouraged. Liquids should not be a problem. Wait until you get to the mushies and then real food before you know how it is. You definitely do not want to be too tight. You just need to let your stomach settle before you test it with food. Good luck!

If you're a new bandster(6months or more).Try going to a rock concert.Boy,you can feel your stomach vibrate.Brings a new meaning to shake,rattle,roll

!st of all, no gulping, sips are in order, always. If your fill is significant, liquid will either get caught or sit there and drain slowly. But, also, don't eat too quickly after a fill; my own surgeon's office requires 2 days clear and 2 days full liquids after a fill. Drinking cold liquids can be a problem, but then you, also, said you are gulping it down, slow and steady! You might take longer to sip that protein drink than before. Best wishes. Karen

Had my first fill a cpl weeks ago 4ccs had to reschedule for another fill because I passed out well I got 2 more ccs inserted couldn't eat or drink for nothing had an emergency appointment Wednesday and they took out 1cc everything went ok for a cpl of hours then bam couldn't eat or drink again another emergency appointment today took out another 1cc! He told me some people can't handle a certain amount hopefully mine stays ok

Thanks, guys! I went back Thursday, and he put more Fluid in my band. I may be a tiny bit overfilled, but I'm just figuring this thing out one step at a time. I'm going to hang tight for now and let everything settle down. So glad to have support.
