Adding Protein Back In...but Think I May Be Doing It Wrong.

Well I am day 3 post-op and I am slowly adding protein back into my diet. However I find that I am taking really small sips of everything and it takes me FOREVER to even get close to finishing something. Am I doing this wrong? I'm so confused.

you are only three days out from surgery. You are doing everything fine. I found if I had ice chips first or had 4oz of water first then 30 min. later if i did my protien i did beter with it but you are only 3 days out if you are only able to get in water popsicles and broths that's ok too

Yeah it's hard for me too. I'm only getting lie 450 cal in and can barely get 6 cups of Water. It'll get better though. I'm 8 days in and it's already easier.

Sounds about right to me. It would take me over an hour to drink a protein drink. I felt like once I finished one I had to start on another!

You are doing fine. I think my first week post op I averaged about 250 calories a day, I called my clinic as I wasn't getting the protein in and they said not to worry about that now, just make sure I am hydrated and walking around. As the swelling goes down, you will find yourself eating/drinking more.
