Pre-Op Liquid Diet

I met with my surgeon yesterday and he wants me to be on a clear liquid diet for a week prior to surgery once my insurance approves it. He specifically said no protein drinks, smoothies, etc. The only things I'm able to have are: water, diet sodas, broths, sugar free jello, Crystal lite, Gatorade, propel water, sugar free popsicles, and coffee, tea. He specified NO PROTEIN SUPPLEMENTS OR DAIRY PRODUCTS!!! anyone else have this strict of a liquid diet? If so how did you get thru it??? How was your energy level??? I'm really nervous about this!

Sorry, can't be of much help. didnd't have to do any kind of preop diet. My dr just said a lite dinner the night before surgery. Went to outback and had ribs. Thats what I considered lite!
