I took them the next day after surgery, just like my BP meds. I purchased One a day chewables(multi-vitamin) and chewable calcium citrate from Walmart and they taste great. The Biratric Choice multi and Calcium were terrible in taste. They were hard to tolerate. I actually hated taking them. Been taking daily Vitamins for the last 40 years.

It's absolutely essential for you to continue to take your Vitamins and Calcium supplements daily post op, and as advised by my surgeon, for the rest of my life.

I take the "Celebrate" brand bariatric Vitamins in the blackberry chewable version, and they actually taste very good. Because I am unable to tolerate the preferred calcium citrate, my surgeon has allowed me to take calcium carbonate as a substitute.

I would compare the amounts of actual vitamins, and their percentage of the "Recommended Daily Value" each dose provides. An off the shelf name brand name Vitamin whose target market is the individual who has not undergone WLS will not provide the necessary amount of vitamins to meet the special needs of a bariatric patient.

This is an excellent topic to discuss with your surgeon or dietitian.

Best wishes...

I take mine everyday...It's essential, as I couldn't possibly get it all in any other way...I also get in at least a Protein combo shake in (2%milk, banana, eas powder, 1tablespoon pnut butter) a day...

Religiously! I take vitaband, Iron, Calcium & folic acid for depression. I make sure to get 70-100 g of Protein daily. I'm about a year out & have lost over 100 lbs but have never lost any hair. I will take them forever. Good luck!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
