No Fill For Now!!

I went in to get a fill on my 6 week checkup but it didn't happen. My doctor stuck me at least 5 times but could not get the right spot of my port. It was very painful and I was almost in tears. He did warn me that the first fill is always the hardest and he may have to stick me multiple times so I tried to prepare myself for the worst. I have read so many post about other people who had no problems with their first fill. I'm starting to question my dr even tho I was very pleased with him up until this point. I now have to get a floroscapy done in order to get my fill. This is when they use an x-ray machine. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this experience and if this is normal?

I'm sorry you had to go through this. I was nervous at my first fill but to my surprise it was painless. They numbed the area where he would insert the needle.

I hope your next appointment goes much better for u. Good luck

I'm so sorry, that can really upset a person. My surgeon never has trouble finding my port, but I've had trouble with one the lady doctors a couple of times. The 2nd time she had so much trouble she had to give me a second numbing shot. I'm not sure how many times she ended up poking me but I was also about to cry. I actually did when I got into the car and called my husband. It's just the whole idea I guess. I was even sore for a couple days after, but it wasn't bad.

Keep positive, it's all worth it in the end.:)

Oh let me tell you I had a nation wide know famous surgeon do my band and my first fill was done under a fluoroscope! In my opinion that is the only way to do your first! I'm 17 months post op and have lost 117 now so keep the faith! If they want and can do the flouro scope I recommend it every time!
