Lap Band Hell & Under The Microscope!!

Recommended Posts

So, I am just over a month post-op and am due for my first fill on Monday! Thank God!! I have minimal if any restriction and am only down a couple of pounds since surgery. I can't wait to experience true "restriction." How many cc's did you 4cc Bandsters get on your first fill?

Also, I havent told many people about my LapBand but my co-workers are aware. BIG mistake!!!! Last weekend I ate a mini-candybar that one of the drug reps brought in and was told by a c0-worker that my eating habits havent changed at all! WELL......1st- YES they have! 2nd- I am human, I didnt gain this weight overnight and I won't lose it overnight (unfortunately). I will make mistakes...I need to think about everything that goes into my mouth.....I don't have Bad foods at home....but at work there are temptations and occasionally they will beat me!

How did you deal with the criticisms? I was very hurt......mad.....and defeated. This gal happens to be a friend of mine. I know she meant well, but ouch...

God I cant wait until Monday!!!!!!

Sounds like you have one of the older, discontinued bands. Where did you have surgery?

Mexico. Sorry, my band is a 4cc band but not discontinued.....I checked with my US surgeon, the FDA and Allergan prior to surgery. Trust me, as a RN, I did my homework!!

I didn't tell anyone (other than family just told 2 co-workers this week during an out of town trip) b/c I don't want to be constantly watched and critisized by every little thing I do.

Really you are not in Lap Band Hell as of now that will come later on with the more fills you get. Your workmates now think they need to Police you on your habits, I run into that once in a while especially when the have work pizza parties or something like that!! I normally have a slice or 2 of Pizza topping and somebody will say "Are you supposed to eat that", It really irks me but then I think so what!! Good Luck

Oh my goodness! This isnt Lap Band Hell?? I thought that the time post-operatively when you have no restriction, your weight loss stalls, and you struggle with your every food choice was that!! Because that is what I am experiencing!! Oh Boy! Fill me in! What is lap band hell, really?...........I want to be prepared!!

do what you know your suppose to do and you will be fine. Don't worry about what others think. They have to pick on you when they should be picking on themselves. Stay strong you'll do great.

I understand bandster hell is the time after surgery, before you get to the green zone.

Yes you are correct for the most part but post op through your first fill it is normal to not have any restriction whatsoever My lap band hell I guess would have been up to the fifth fill except I was losing weight pretty much easy between my 3 and 4th fills Was what I call Lapband hell as I actually gained 7 lbs seemingly for no good reason!

My husband has always been a strong beliver in mind-over-matter, and that's how I've been getting through my Hell phase. My last fill, bringing me up to 4.5 cc in an 11 cc band, has helped some but I've managed to stick to my diet plan and have been losing the lbs. I just tell my stomach, too bad, get over it, you'll eat when I feed you. Enjoy this Water instead :)

That's why I didn't tell people not to mention generally the ones who are given that advise are the ones who need to get control of there own weight. I dont' think one small piece of candy is terrible now everyday that is different. LOL

My surgeon said that is the point of the band vs other surgies is that you don't have to stop living that you still can enjoy an occasional treat just don't over do it.

One of the things I found out after I was banded is just how much attention people paid to my weight and how much I ate before I was banded. So before you think she was dissing you maybe she was just protecting you from others waging tongues.

I never had bander hell..... I lost from day one but I followed the rules to the letter, I made my mind up that I was going to do this. And I know a tiny candy bar isn't going to make you or break you . But for me with my nature I was not going to chance it. One little candy bar just wasn't worth it to me. Because if I got away with it the next day it would be 2 . Who eats on little candy bar????????????

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
