Alcohol

An I drink alcohol 11 days post op. I wanted to have a glass of wine and I read all of my books and handouts and I don't even see anything about alcohol!

I'm not sure whether you can at 11 days post op. I know that I didn't and certainly didn't even feel like it at that stage, although I have the occasional drink now.

I was emphatically told that I was to avoid all alcoholic beverages for an entire year post op...

I would call your surgeons office and ask. Keep in mind the calories alchohol has, and they are empty ones. Also, I know for me it causes me to overeat/eat things I normally wouldn't. My advice- stay away from it.

Thanks for the replies everyone! I promise I know they're empty calories and lead to eating junk food lol. I've drank alcohol before, I know the down falls, but a glass of wine every once in awhile is all I need :) I'll ask my dr at my appointment Tuesday! Thanks!

A glass or two on occasion is not going to kill me like say a heart attack from being over weight would of!!! Lol !!!
