I have no idea what nepherologist is or why your lack of drinking would piss them off - but the best thing you can do for yourself is to concentrate on drinking often but slowly. As you have already figured out, chugging your Water is going to cause you pain, especially in your healing phase.

Hopefully, your surgeon is aware of your kidney problem and can help you figure out how to get your Water requirements straight. But I'd definitely talk to your surgeon about your drinking problem.

My nephrologist has me drinking about 96 oz a day too. Water doesn't stick for me though? I can still chug pretty good but I am more careful than I was before the band. I have to take this horse pill every day too(prevents stones) and it's too big for the band so I have to break it in two. I think you'll be fine as soon as the edema goes down. In the meantime just sip constantly. I know it's difficult when you're used to chugging but what else are you going to do?

I've found that it takes some time for your tissues to heal, and any swelling to go down. That may be the reason you are having difficulties with drinking like you did before your surgery. The same thing happened to me for a few days following my first fill.

With that said, it will cause discomfort if you drink fluids too fast...but if you pace yourself, you will find that it will be easier to get your needed fluids in. I recall that immediately post op, I could not even come close to drinking the minimum of 60 oz a day; now the minimum for me is 80 with no trouble. I feel like a baby; I never go anywhere without my bottle! :)

Since you are relatively new to banding, you are probably still experiencing swelling. I used a CamelBak water bottle post-op with a built in straw to make sure I was always sipping away.

I'm at 6 CCs in a 10 CC band, and I can still chug Water easily. You just need to let yourself heal, and you should be good to go again in a few weeks.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
