New To The Forum

Hi everyone. My name is Verna and I am tired of being fat. I have high blood pressure and pain in my knees. I have an appointment with a bariatric surgeon in July and I cannot wait to begin the process. I joined this forum to get knowledge and to meet new people who are going through what I'm going through.

Welcome , I'm Jackie and I was banded 4/25/2012 . I have lost 30 lbs so far and I get my first fill Tuesday !!!! I went to my primary care doc and if I keep going I will be off my blood pressure meds and cholesterol meds in 2 months . Best choice I have made . Good luck on your journey and congrats on a healthier life ahead of you.

Thanks for the welcome, Jacki. Congratulations on that 30 lb loss. You should be proud of yourself. That's awesome. Ok dumb question time, what is a fill?

That is when they add the saline into your band . Kinda nervous it's the first one for me !!!

Verna, congrats on your decision to become healthier! My surgery was Nov 2010 and shortly into my wt loss, my doctor took me off of the blood pressure meds because it became controlled. Even my knee and back pain reduced. Wt loss success is a daily CHOICE. Have patience and dont be too hard on yourself if and you fall short of your personal goals. This journey has taught me that. Im still looking to lose about 47lbs (total goal of 100lbs). You're in good company here!

Thanks so much JaGo. That's so great you've lost so much. I know I have a long road ahead of me but that's ok. I didn't get this way overnight and it's going to take some time to take it off. It's also very encouraging to hear that the knee and back pain get better.

Well Verna let me say congrats to you, I was banded on May 24th and I am really happy I have had some issues not major. But I have recieved valuable informations and also very calming information on this site. It is a really nice site and everyone is always willing to help. So if you have any questions or concerns and I can help I will do my best.

@Dianne Wow, May 24. How long does the procedure take and did you come home the same day? @JaGo I definitely plan to be around through this whoe process. It was only a week and a half ago I made the decision to pursue bariatric surgery. I finally got up the nerve to call on Thursday. I am very excited about the thought of getting my life back. I'm tired of going down steps one at a time when I used run up them two at a time and not having the energy to do the things I used to do. Thank you ladies both for all your kind words and support.

Banded the 24th and doing great, was to come home the same day but had a little extra gas I needed to get rid of. I also had knee pain and was having a very bad time with it, now I have had no pain since surgery.

Started walking today excited about that. Welcome to the group.

Lassie
