Does $185 Sound About Right?

Can't find a local psychologist who accepts my insurance, so I scheduled an appointment as self-pay for my psych eval. I have nothing to compare this price to, so I was hoping if any of you knew if this was a fair price?

  • I don't really have any answer but I do have a suggestion. Could you ask if they have a self pay price? My dentist will give a 20% off self pay price if you pay by credit card at time of service.

  • My insurance was billed $578 bucks for that 30 minute appointment. Out of pocket I paid $20 bucks.

578?!?!?!

Holy cow!

Yea that's what I said too. I am glad my out of pocket was only 20..

Yeah we do have an EAP. What can they do?

They can direct you a local professional. The best part of the benefit is that your employer pays for a portion of the visit(s). $25/session for 3-5 sessions is what my EAP offers.

i paid $265 out of pocket. I got a 3 hour evaulation though. Crazy that the prices are so different/insurance is so different.

3 hours??? I go tomorrow and the guy said it should take about an hour. What should I expect? What do you discuss?

I have to pay $500 for 3 sessions and a report. Anyone have someone they recommend in the Philadelphia area that may be cheaper?

My psych appointment was $150. She wasn't in my network so I had to pay out of pocket.

My out of pocket was over $1200. Was not expecting it to be that much. The psych clinic is in my medical clinic and ended up being out of network for my insurance. I was annoyed, but what do you do? One of those hoop, I guess!
