Sleeping Comfortably Post-Op

Hi fellow bandsters!

I just got banded last friday, may 4th and its been an interesting few days. I'm moving around more comfortable, walking in my neighborhood, taking less meds and making yummy pureed foods to keep me going. One thing that I'm wondering about. As of right now I'm sleeping on my back and little bit on my side, but I am a natural belly sleeper. When the scars fully heal and the pain fades will I be able to sleep on my belly or will the port make it uncomfortable. This also ties in with exercise, I did yoga before and when I resume exercise I would love to resume my yoga practice and not have pain every time I lay on my belly! Thanks for the feedback!

i was told not to ever sleep on my port/belly/side of port. I use a pillow to help me stay on my side that is not where my port is or i sleep on my back with a pillow under my ankles.

I had to sleep sitting up for the first 3 nites...now 11 months out I am a belly sleeper..sometimes I can feel my port and have to adjust myself...as far as exercise there is only one machine at the gym I can't do and it's where u lay on ur stomach and curl the weights to work on ur hamstrings...other than my underwire sometime aggrevating my port site since I've lost weight I have no real problems with my port...hope this helps.

I am also a belly sleeper, its been tough since banded on Monday, i've been on my back and turning a little on the right side, my left side is where the port is and its still sore. I did manage to leave the house today and get a few groceries and watched my son play ball, tomorrow i'll go for a short walk and see how that goes, congrats on your band and getting back to exercising!!

I was never told anything about sleeping positions and just sleep where I am comfortable.
