Question About The 1St Few Weeks

Recommended Posts

I'm getting banded May 30 (yay)! I have a business trip 2.5 weeks after surgery. I don't plan to tell anyone at work about the surgery. If I'm eating 3 meals a day with these people, will I be able to be somewhat "normal?" I'm not sure what to expect so soon after surgery as far as what I'll be eating and how I'll be feeling. Ive heard a lot about the gas pains and food getting "stuck." Any advice would be great! Thank you!

Not sure what your doctor's post op diet is, but for me week 2 is thick liquids (puréed Soups, yogurt smoothies, pudding) & week 3 is soft foods (canned chicken, baked fish, tuna). So depending on where your meals take place I'm sure you can find something that fits your diet without anyone being suspicious. Cream soups are usually an option at most restaurants. And a safe food to not risk getting stuck.

I agree that eating Soups, sugar free pudding, fat free yogurt. I also traveled in week 3 and i did tell people and everyone was not only happy for me, but more than willing to help accomodate my needs.

Your making a life changing decision for the better. Be proud and walk with your head high. A positive attitude and confidence is so important through this to be successful.

Good luck

I doubt you will be able to eat 'normal type' food, but u need to speak to your surgeon regarding timescales of the different forms of liquid and solids that way you will know for definite what to expect when u go away and maybe take some pre-made Protein Shakes with you and Soup etc and just dont be hungry at meal time etc etc ...

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
