Had My Surgery Today!

Well, i'm finally banded and I have to say it's not near as painful as I thought it would be. I do have some gas pain but it comes and goes and is never too bad. I'm on clear liquids for a week but I have a question about how much you are supposed to drink in one sip. I'm scared of making too big of a sip so I've just been swallowing about a half of a teaspoon at a time. I know it doesn't sound like much but I am making sure Im getting a lot of fluids in. What is a "safe" amount to swallow at a time?

  • Thanks, I am doing pretty well. I am off the pain meds. I think I popped a stitch this morning, as I felt something pull and then a burning sensation for like 30 seconds. I guess I should find a bette

It wasn't bad at all. I went in scared of the pain but after I woke up I was pleasantly surprised on how little pain I had. I haven't had any pain medicine yet and hoping not to even need it at all. I had my surgery at 7:30 this morning and they let me go a little after 11 am. Which I'm glad because I can rest better at home lol. I hope yours goes as smoothly as mine also and I wish you lots of luck and success!

Thank you! I'm really surprised how great it's going, I just hope I don't wake up in extreme pain tomorrow lol. My mouth is so dry I've been constantly drinking Water and gatorade. I'm going to have broth for dinner. YUM lol

I haven't been banded yet but I just wanted to congratulate you and wish you a speedy recovery!

Congrats on getting banded!!

Congrats on being banded!!! Those first few days I would take a normal sip but then make 2- 3 swallows out of it. If that makes sense. I just got my first fill today and am so tight so I am back to where you are......sip, sip and more sip!!! I hope you continue to do so well.

congrats!!

Thank you everyone! I've been doing pretty good today with sipping, I make sure to take tiny sips and drink slowly. This is all very new and will take some time but I'm looking forward to the results.

Best of luck to you!!

I had so much pain I could barely breath, but I also had my gall bladder out. I took pain meds for 3 days staight and had to sleep sitting up for a day or two and I tolerate pain really well. I was surprised with how much it hurt, lol. Once, again I think that was prob related to the gall bladder.

I was in a lot of pain too and I still have my gallbladder. They had to give me the maximum dose of morphine! Today is the first day I can sit comfortably.

Congrats! I had my surgery today too! Although I do feel like I am having more pain from the gas that they inflated me with. I guess I also had a hernia too that they fixed while in there. I have been trying my best to drink all day, use my spirometer, and take it easy.

Having mine in a few hour 5:30 am to be exact hope it all goes good for me thanks for letting me know it's not that painfully ..more relief now.. Feel better fast
