Hi -

I'm getting mixed results when asking this question... How much time to I **reasonably** have to take off work?

I'm in Dental Sales, so I'm in and out of a car all day.... but not really carrying much. My surgeon is part of True Results, and the PA I've been seeing there says only 3-4 days. However, Another PA there is seeing my mom, who is having surgery with me, and told her a week, plus only light duty, not lifting, climbing etc, for 4-6 weeks (my mom's an insurance adjuster).

I've also read and heard that patients still aren't feeling quite right and are in pain a week or more after surgery...

What has your experience been?

Just wondering what the reality is....

Had a hernia repair done also, surgery was a Friday and I was okay within the week but took two weeks off. I guess it depends on your work situation. I felt because of the restrictions with eating I might feel weaker but it wasn't so bad. Glad I took the extra time off anyway.

Thanks everyone!! My surgery is on a friday morning, so I'll probably try to work from home til at least the next Wednesday - just worried about the driving, and in and out of the car all day - like army mom said, driving and turning to look at traffic might be bothersome...

I am having my surgery Friday morning as well. I am planning on going back to work next Thursday the 9th. I am getting a lil bit nervous. I had an emergency c-section and recovered well so I hope I recover quick from this.

My surgery scheduled for a Monday, so taking a weeks vacation,( some people think I am going on a spa vacation to Indonesia?!)Hope to be back to work on Monday. My planning involves buying lots of self tanner... Hehehe, in addition to the required post op food stuffs, of course.

I had surgery on Friday and went back to work teaching the next Tuesday after banding and hernia repair. I felt fine. I am one of those people who recovers quickly. it was the same with my gallbladder. The doc said a week, I was ready to go back after 3-4 days.
