Well my surgery was approved last Wednesday and I am all set for my surgery this Thursday. I started my general liquids diet today and on Wednesday I go to a clear liquid diet. I am surprised how calm I am right now only being 3 days away from the surgery. Good luck to everyone that has surgery today.

Hi

Tomorrow (11/8) is my BIG day! unsure.gif 2pm. Nervous and excited at the same time. So wish me luck and I'll get back in a day or two to let you all know how it went. smile.gif

FMLA is your right! I am in the HR field. If you have worked 1250 within a year and the company you work for has more than 50 employees by law your boss must grant you Fmla. They must hold your job or an equal position with the same rate of pay for up to 12 weeks. If she does not they could have a big lawsuit on their hands. If she grants it to you and the gives you a hard time upon your return then you can sue for retaliation. Contact the department of labor first and then the EEOC if she doesn't grant it. Contact your companies HR department too! It makes me angry when employers try to bypass federal law!

Thank you Lisa. I am a nurse and work for a large hospital. I definatey supercede the requirements. I believe I worked more than 1700 hours. I actually spoke with HR today and they handled it thank goodness! They really had my back and I am grateful. They asked for me to obtain a letter from my surgeons office stating that it was medically necessary and then they would email my manager telling her that she needed to sign my paperwork. The one thing I noticed was that HR wanted my surgeons office to state what specifically that I was having done. I didn't think they could ask that due to HIPAA? I called my surgeons office and they wrote a vague letter to protect my health information by stating (This laparoscopic procedure was approved and deemed medically necessary due to health reasons, Approximate time off of work would be from such and such date to such and such date). I honestly believe nobody needs to know what I am doing except for my surgeon, and my family.

I was worried that HR wouldn't back me up, but I was very surprised at the help I have received. I have never taken FMLA ever so this was a whole new process for me. Thank you so much for the advice. :)

ready set go!!!!!! Surgery tomorrow nov 8th at 1145 am! So excited but that anxiety is bubblin to the surface too! I wish all of us nov 8th bandsters a safe surgery and a healthy happy and speedy recovery!

Good luck to all banded this week and all month. 3 more days til surgery this is day 4 of preop diet have lost 7 pounds. Like most I hope I am doing right. They talk alot about protein and calories like my diet is 800 - 1000 calories and no less than 60 proteins per day but only mention keeping carbs low. I have been constantly modifying to get my proteins in sometimes to get them I have to up the calories closer to the 1000 mark then id like to be. Does anyone know what a good number is?

Did I fail to mention how nervous iam. I dont know which one is worse the excitement of what could be or the anxiety of the surgery itself.

I am set to be banded on the 11th! I go in at 5:30 and have surgery at 7:30! The pre op diet is rough. I'm a stay at home mom to 4 small kids and trying to prepare meals for them and dinner at night for my husband is the hardest!

Shirley.

Leaving in about 15 minutes to head to the hospital for my surgery which is scheduled for 2pm. Mixed bag of emotions - nervous, excited, happy - knowing that I am on the threshold of a new life - a mulligan. Sigh . . . Life is Good! rolleyes.gif

Thanks Shirkey, even to the were a bit slow, once I got un It was fast then

I had to stay over tonight. It s a big single room. Bathroom is bigger than one of

My bedrooms. I hope all the 8ther banders are doing fine.

Hey guys!!! My surgery is on November 15! My pre op diet is very strict compared to most that I have seen on this website. 3 protein shakes, I am doing muscle milk lite, and 8-10 glasses of water. So far I have lost 15 pounds. I cannot wait!

Hi all. I have been thinking about this surgery for at least 3 years but couldn't find a surgeon to do it because my BMI was 31. Now my BMI is 32.9 and the FDA has lowered the BMI, I finally have a sugary date of 11/17/11. I started the process on 10/27/11, I am self pay, which means I avoided some of the red tape. Start my liquid diet tomorrow.
