Abs- how soon is too soon?

Hi everyone!!! I just had surgery on August 10, 2011, and I am wondering when I can begin crunches, etc? I am adamant about keeping up with my weight loss in terms of keep my skin firm (if possible). When can I begin ab workouts?

Congratulations on surgery, Kelly! My doc cleared me for exercise 2 weeks post-op, but make sure you check with yours. He or she may have different requirements. Keep up the great work!

I had my surgery on the 4th and I waited 2 weeks to begin exercise, be sure to listen to your body..and your doctor! :) good luck!

Abs, I would wait til at least 3 if not 4 weeks, my doc cleared me for cardio, when I asked at my 9 day post op appointment, but said no weights or anything like that for like 2 more weeks. An incision takes a minimum of 10-14 days to fully close, so doing it to soon could risk opening it up

Thank you everyone!!! :)

I did some no-no's this week. I am switching schools and had to move all of my stuff... it was frustrating that i didnt really have anyone to help at first... but i took it very slow and easy... and im hoping i'm ok!

I wont be exerting myself for another week, at least!

Kelly :)

I was not cleared for abs for 6 weeks, but could begin cardio after 2!!!
